NBC Puts Heroes Spinoff on Hold
Looming Writers' Strike Possibly to Blame

The strike fallout may have started already as NBC put its Heroesspinoff on hold.

While the network didn’t comment, sources said the six-episode run that was to have aired in the spring has been sidelined.
With the economic uncertainties that face the networks given the looming possibility of a writers' strike, the broadcasters are all evaluating the status of many of their current and future projects.
Originally entitled Heroes: Origins -- although that title was said to be undergoing change -- the spinoff was announced last spring when NBC had high hopes for a stellar sophomore season for the flagship.
However, ratings have failed to grow as the network had hoped and the show has come under fire from fans, as well as some critics, for its creative direction so far.
