ABC, IDA Nominates Documentaries for Best Use of Stock Footage

Awards Sponsored by International Documentary Association, ABCNEWS VideoSource

ABC and the International Documentary Association named the eight nominees for best use of news footage in a documentary, with HBO's prolific film operation sharing in three of the nominations.

White Light, Black Rain

The awards, which have been given out annually since 1997, are sponsored by IDA and ABCNEWS VideoSource (http://www.broadcastingcable.com/article/CA287396.html), the network news operation's licensing arm for news and stock footage.

The winner will be named at the IDA Awards Gala Dec. 7 in Los Angeles.

And the nominees are: American/Sandinista (University of California, Berkeley); Half-Life: A Journey to Chernobyl (Seventh Art Productions); My Kid Could Paint That (Axis Films, Passion Pictures, Sony Pictures Classics, A&E IndieFilms); Nanking (Agape Multimedia Partners; THINKFilm; HBO); Rapsodia Do Absurdo (Cláudia Nunes); Sputnick Mania (Varied Directions International); Steal a Pencil for Me (Diamond Lane Films, Red Envelope Entertainment); and White Light, Black Rain (Farallon Films/ HBO Documentary Films, HBO).
