On March 12, I lined up with Price is Right guests at CBS—people there to view a test show of contenders for Bob Barker’s 35 year game show run, and the end of a 50 year TV career. On the morning program, Mario Lopez received strong initial applause, but it seemed clear that neither of the early contenders could step into Barker’s shoes. George Hamilton, in the later show, had the polish, the audience rapport, quick comebacks, and the depth needed to carry on such a long-standing tradition as Barker’s. I cannot imagine a more even match than Hamilton and Barker. George Hamilton provides an opportunity for CBS to pick up new viewers without losing faithful fans. Hamilton was a huge hit with the college seniors in the front row, senior citizens who have loved the show for half a lifetime, and every age in between. Of the four, Hamilton sparkled and was the only one who could maintain audience interest throughout the show.

WTF?! I guess Bob & George both love a good tan, but where did this come from? I thought John O\'\'Hurley and Rich Fields were the frontrunners!

Good article, but Bob Barker is not the only man to host \"Price is Right.\" Bill Cullen hosted the half-hour \"Price\" on NBC and ABC from 1956-65, and Dennis James, Tom Kennedy and Doug Davidson hosted various nighttime syndicated versions of \"Price\" in 1972-77, 1985 and 1994, respectively. Of course, to most viewers Barker\'s the only \"Price\" host, but factually, he was one of five. And Dennis James was hired before Barker was in \'72.

Good article, but Bob Barker is not the only man to host "Price is Right."

Bill Cullen hosted the half-hour "Price" on NBC and ABC from 1956-65,
and Dennis James, Tom Kennedy and Doug Davidson hosted various
nighttime syndicated versions of "Price" in 1972-77, 1985 and 1994,
respectively.
