I find it sad that the NAB is so readily admitting that they fear the future \"competition\" That the satellite industry represents. Look at \"Clear Channel\" for a clear example of a poisoning monopoly entering the broadcast industry. I want satellite radio to succeed for all its obvious benefits but don’t want to have to purchase 2 separate systems and pay 2 subscriptions to get the choices of programming I want. The NAB knows full well that an unchanging terrestrial radio eventually faces the way of the dodo and Betamax if they are not able to block this merger. It is apparent that there will ultimately be only one satellite radio provider in the near future. Without a merger, Sirius is the obvious choice for a company with the structure and pockets to go the distance. It is sad the money dumped into Washington by the NAB might purchase a very short term solution to what they fear most. Satellite radio is soon to be the first choice of the next generation of target market radio listeners.
