ABC To Stream Hot Topics From The View

ABC is bringing its ladies of The View online, streaming clips of the talk show's opening "hot topics" segments on ABC.com. Snippets of the show will be available for free on its section of ABC.com following each weekday's live show, which airs at 11:00 a.m. This marks the first time ABC has streamed that segment of the show.
"Hot topics," which airs over a couple of segments in roughly the first 15 minutes of the show features the View hosts discussing and debating issues of the day, including current events and entertainment news. The host chat has helped the show to ratings jumps in its current tenth season. This year's November sweeps were the show's highest-rated ever. The hot topic segments have received particular notice of late - especially online - for incidents involving View co-host Rosie O'Donnell. Various entertainment blogs have written about a dissatisfied on air phone call Kelly Ripa made to O'Donnell after O'Donnell characterized a remark Ripa made towards Clay Aiken as homophobic. Ripa had chastised Aiken, who has not publicly stated his sexual orientation, for putting his hand over her mouth. Also, several websites and blogs have posted video of O'Donnell speaking faux Chinese to explain that an earlier appearance by a drunken Danny DeVito had made headlines around the world. Her comments prompted a letter from New York City Councilman John C. Liu saying the remarks were derogatory. O'Donnell's spokesperson told the Daily News they were meant as a joke.

It is a sign of the times that The View, which used to be a show that I would not miss, but has now turned into a show that is disgusting. It is odd that Barbara Walters, a woman of her intelligence and refinement would replace Star Jones with a vulgar, insensitive racist such as Rosie O'Donald (sp). That is why, as an African American woman, I would not even consider watching your show any longer, but I know you could care less because vulgarity increases ratings, and you would rather have a Rosie rather than a woman of breeding.

Concerning Rosie- I think people are OUT of CONTROL with their sensitivity to humor, and insinuating this is some type of Racist comment is ridiculous. A white woman attempting to imitate a chinese language is funny, period, the end. Rosies comments would have been just as funny if she did an Italian impression of the Pope in Italy mocking Tony Danza. Get real people! I honestly don''t think she was going after mocking the chinese. She was in a joking manner mocking Tony and how popular the view is that even people in China will hear about this. Get on your soap box for something important for christ sake! Does anyone realize how much time and effort goes into disecting something that was actually a bust to Tony Danza, not the Chinese. As far a Clay Akin goes, again does it really matter to anyone what orientation he is? I am sure the person that commented earlier is correct, he has stated he is straight but do you actually think the Media would get up and say "Clay Akin is Straight!" Of course not, the controversy would be over, and they''d have nothing to sensationalize. The MEDIA needs to produce something that is worth watching. I am not a robot that thrives on the garbage they dish out everyday.

It's not ok to make fun of african americans, but it's ok to make fun of asian americans. You can see where the asians are in the pecking order in this society.

Clay Aiken has publicly stated his orientation many times. Since the media has chosen to ignore it, he finally just stopped answering questions about it. He is straight. If you would like to see a few video clips of times he has stated it, watch the youtube video titled Setting the Record Straight...Again.
