In Demand Networks renewed its deal with the National Hockey League for distribution of its NHL Center Ice out-of-market game package.
In Demand’s cable-operator affiliates will offer a free preview of NHL Center Ice through Oct. 9, during which time early birds or automatic renewals will pay $149 for the package. The full regular season will then be available for $169, or $119 for the half-season from Jan. 25-March 7. The “Race to the Stanley Cup Playoffs” -- March 8 through the end of the season -- will cost $59.
The NHL Center Ice Leaguewide mosaic, free-of-charge to NHL Center Ice subscribers, will rotate live-action telecasts for every game playing concurrently through a four part screen, with scores, time clocks and the channel designation if viewers decide to switch to another game. Viewers will also get current scores from around the league, updated in real-time.
And for the first time ever, In Demand affiliates will have the option of making the NHL’s broadband content from NHL Center Ice Online through NHL.com available at no additional charge to subscribers to the TV product.
“We are pleased to once again provide the NHL Center Ice package to the legions of passionate hockey fans via cable systems around the country,” In Demand president and CEO Robert D. Jacobson said in a statement. “There is simply no better way to enjoy this powerful and fast-moving sport than to have access to every game, a new multiscreen mosaic, plus all of the stats and previews, all at your fingertips.”
