This year’s gala event will take place at New York’s Waldorf-Astoria Oct. 21.

“It is my great privilege to be hosting this year’s Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame Awards, an event that for nearly 20 years both commemorates great television and honors television’s greatest pioneers,” Couric said.

Couric herself became a member of the B&C Hall of Fame in 2001. Among the honorees this year are her former Today show co-host, Matt Lauer, and one of her current employers, 60 Minutes, which will celebrate its 40th anniversary.

“Having a personality like Katie Couric as host is the perfect addition to this year’s powerhouse lineup of inductees,” B&C editor Ben Grossman said. “We look forward to her leading what has been one of our industry’s pre-eminent events for nearly two decades.”
